DESCRIPTION
This local experience will introduce students to the history and cultures of multiethnic Los Angeles through site visits to historic ethnic enclaves. In addition to exploring some of LA’s historic and cultural landscapes, students will become familiar with the LA Metro system, as most sites will be reached through metro rail stations. The experience will encourage basic life skills such as reading and interpreting maps, utilizing public transportation as a sustainable form of travel, as well as an appreciation for the diversity of LA’s urban landscape. We will also sample the cuisine of the ethnic communities we visit.
